Ueno Marui is a major department store in Ueno selling the latest fashions for men, women, and children, household goods, cosmetics and accessories. Customers can also find a branch of MUJI on the B2 basement level, the GAP on the 2nd floor, and LOFT on the 5th floor. Ueno Marui also has many restaurants and cafes. Conveniently located close to JR Ueno Station and Ueno Subway Station, and a short walk from Ueno Park, this is a very popular shopping center in the Ueno area.

This department store has 9 floors above ground and two basement levels. Let’s take a look at the highlights on each floor.

The 1st floor at Ueno Marui
The 1st floor stocks women’s fashion accessories, women’s bags, cosmetics, jewelry, and watches. Big name brands on this floor include Samantha Thavasa bags and accessories, Jill Stuart cosmetics, and the Swiss watchmaker Swatch. There is also a café on the 1st floor called Nana’s Green Tea where you can enjoy light meals as well as matcha green tea based drinks and desserts.

Randa: a shoe store for ladies on the 2nd floor

Leis’ Coffee
On the 2nd floor there are stores selling clothing for men, women, and children, ladies’ shoes, cosmetics, glasses and sunglasses. On this floor you can find a branch of the Gap and Gap Kids, and a café called
Leis’ Coffee, which serves Hawaiian style coffee and pancakes.

Fleur de Kalina: comfortable women’s wear aimed at ladies in their 20s, on the 3rd floor
On the 3rd floor there are more ladies’ fashions, Wacoal ladies’ lingerie, a nail salon, a beauty salon, an osteopathic massage center, and a reflexology center.

On the 4th floor you will find more women’s wear, ladies lingerie, home décor and lifestyle goods at Francfranc, and cosmetics from Mary Quant.

The 5th floor stocks men’s accessories, bags, watches, glasses and sunglasses. Here you will also find a branch of Loft which sells home improvement, hobby, and lifestyle goods.

Edwin: casual wear for men on the 6th floor

The 6th floor is devoted to men’s wear and men’s shoes. Here you will find branches of Takeo Kikuchi, Edwin, and Katherine Hamnett.

More men’s fashions and shoes are available on the 7th floor, but also a branch of the 100 yen store Seria.

Nitori on the 8th floor
The 8th floor has only one store: Nitori. This store sells home furnishings, interior design products, gardening and outdoor goods.

The food hall on the 9th floor
The 9th floor is the dining area with restaurants serving Italian pasta, Russian and Swiss style cheese dishes, yakiniku style barbecued beef, and a Japanese style café. There is also a food hall where you can get Indian food, Korean food, char-grilled hamburger steaks, or “casual French” desserts.

The first basement level (B1) has a supermarket, and a number of cafes and eateries such as Starbucks cafe, a Baskin Robbins ice cream parlor, a Natural Crepe shop, and Sabar mackerel specialty restaurant.

Services & Facilities
There is an Information Center and a Tax Refund Counter on the 2nd floor. A limited number of wheelchairs are available to borrow at the Information Center.

There are Seven Bank ATM cash machines on the 1st floor and B1 basement level. There is a Japan Post Bank cash machine on the B2 basement level. Both types of cash machine accept most major international bank cards and have English language guidance.

Tax Refunds for Overseas Visitors
Overseas visitors who are not resident in Japan and plan to stay less than 6 months are eligible to apply for a tax refund on goods purchased in Marui store if they spend 10,501 yen or more. To claim your tax refund, go to the Tax Refund Counter on the 2nd floor and bring all of your receipts and your passport. The refund must be claimed on the same day of your purchase. Some items are not eligible for a tax refund and these are: foods, beverages, drugs, cosmetics, cigarettes, film, and batteries.

Ueno Marui is located directly across from the Hirokoji Exit of JR Ueno Station. Keisei Ueno Station is also just a 3 minute walk away, and the department store is directly connected to Ueno Subway Station on its B1 level. Here is a map showing the location.
