1 Night 1980 Yen Hostel Tokyo is a capsule hotel in Tokyo offering very cheap accommodation with basic facilities. The hostel is in walking distance of both the Ueno and Asakusa sightseeing districts. This hostel is a good option for solo travelers and backpackers on a tight budget who want to save some money in a city that is usually very expensive.
Capsules
Guests at this hotel rent single sleeping capsules in large common sleeping areas. These sleeping areas are separated by gender with men and women sleeping on different floors. These sleeping areas are cleaned every day.
Inside each sleeping capsule is a mattress and bedding and guests are provided with a large locker for their belongings which includes hangers for their clothes. Each capsule also has power outlets and a privacy curtain. All capsules are non-smoking. Lounge wear can be rented from the front desk.
Ladies capsules are furnished with more comfortable bedding than the standard male capsules, and ladies are also provided with free amenities. However, in addition to the standard capsules which are available for both women and men, there are some “Superior Capsules” which are only available in the men’s sleeping areas. These capsules are slightly bigger, with more comfortable bedding and include a small TV. Male guests renting Superior Capsules can also get extra free amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body soap and bath towels.

Showers & Bathrooms
Shared showers and bathrooms are located on the 6th and 8th floors. Showers are free to use, but baths cost 400 yen for 30 minutes. Guests who wish to take a bath should ask at the front desk.
Toothbrushes and face towels are provided for free. Bath towels can be rented. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided free for ladies, but men should buy them from the front desk. Combs and disposable shaving razors can also be bought for a fee.
Dining Options
No meals are served at this hostel. However, there are large number of restaurants in the surrounding area which include a cheap family restaurant, casual izakaya-style pubs, Chinese and Indian restaurants, and noodle shops. There is also a 24-hour 7-11 convenience store just 5 minutes’ walk from the hostel where you can buy cheap snacks, drinks, and other groceries.
Other Services & Facilities
This hostel has a 24-hour front desk. The staff are friendly and have some English speaking ability. Check-in time is between 15.00 and 21.00 and check-out is between 4.00 and 12.00. Baggage can be left at the front desk between 9.00 and 18.00.
There is a 24-hour self-service laundry with coin-operated machines on the 1st floor. Laundry, dry cleaning, and ironing services are also available for a fee.
This hostel has common areas on the 3rd floor and on the roof. These areas are provided with seating and vending machines for soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. Designated smoking areas are also provided.
Free Wi-Fi internet access is available in all areas of the hostel.

This hostel is a 6 minute walk from Iriya Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, 13 minutes from Uguisudani Station on the JR Yamanote and Keihin-Tohoku lines, the Iriya Exit of JR Ueno Station is 20 minutes away, and TX Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express Line is also 20 minutes away.
